Why can,t i edit my home video with windows movie maker?
You need to convert those files first to formats that moviemaker deals with like avi and wmv before burning it to a dvd. There are several software out there that can do conversions, some are even free.

MICROSOFT gives you a guide below:
even though mpeg is a supported format, it doesn't work great with the program so I suggest you convert your video.
Go to www.download.com and do a search for video converters. If you want something free, use the advanced search to narrow down your search and find free softwares only or go to www.freewarefiles.com and do a search there.
