Why can,t i edit my home video with windows movie maker?

when i try to edit my home video( camcorder) on windows movie maker it says no valid files found, but i can play it on windows media player (i think it,s mpeg files)and when i try to edit it on sonic mydvd it edits ok, but when i go to burn it i get an error file -20400 is not a valid mpeg file. Any ideas what the problem could be...or any free software i could download that would do the job ( including background music...and menus) i,ve wasted loads of dvd,s

You need to convert those files first to formats that moviemaker deals with like avi and wmv before burning it to a dvd. There are several software out there that can do conversions, some are even free.

even though mpeg is a supported format, it doesn't work great with the program so I suggest you convert your video.



Go to www.download.com and do a search for video converters. If you want something free, use the advanced search to narrow down your search and find free softwares only or go to www.freewarefiles.com and do a search there.
