How do you import your video to your computer to get to Windows Movie Maker?

I have a DVD handycam and when I'm done making my movie, I take the CD from the camera out, put it into my computer, and try to import it into Windows Movie Maker, but it wouldn't let me.It does let me see my video on the computer, but it doesn't let me import my video onto Windows Movie Maker.

Does anyone know the right way to import it?

(I'm a beginer at this so please help me)

You have to buy a video capture divice USB in any computer store or electronics sales and then you connect it to the usb port on your computer then in the divice you connect the 3 cables: yellow , red and white on it.

the divice would cost you like 50 dollars no more and the mayority of divice bring it own program to edit , then you press (capture) and then press play in your camera and it will record it on you computer .

The USB cable that the camera brings is only for pictures .

The one that I telling you is for video capture.

Hi there. What you need to do is:

1. Import a video file. Once the video has loaded into Movie Maker, look at the storyboard line (the 1/3 of the screen at the bottom).

2. There is a button that says "Show Timeline". Click on it. If it says "Show Storyboard" you can skip this step.

3. Import a music file (use the menu at the lift hand side under the "1. Capture Video" category. If you can't see it there, click on the down arrow button next to the title to make them appear).

3. Look at the timeline at the bottom of the screen. It is divided into three sections: Video, Audio/Music and Time Overlay.

4. Drag the video file in the "video" part of the timeline (top part).

5. Drag the audio file in the Audio/Music part of the timeline (middle part)

Preview your movie. You should be able to hear the audio piece and view the video. Now for something a bit more advanced (and optional)...

If your video file already contains some sound and you don't want that to be heard (just the audio file you have imported), there is a way to do it.

Look at the timeline again; specifically, at the video part. There is a small "plus" (+) sign next to it. Click it so it becomes a "minus" (-) sign. Note that a new part opened in the timeline.

It has the name of the video's filename and shows a histogram. Right-click anywhere on it (the word Audio becomes bold). From the menu that appears click on "mute".

When you open the program w/c is the windows movie maker. In your left pane, there are 3 tasks under each task there are options, let say 1 capture video. If you want to add clips then click the import video options under it,will ask you the locations, just point to the locations where you have your clips or video and that's it, you can do that multiple times if you have many clips to add. Same as for other options if you want to edit it or add sounds, music and so fort... If your not sure about what you're doing click the help options on top of that page and you should be able to understand it more.

1) The DVD menu would only be available if you happened to burn the movie onto the DVD through Windows DVD Maker. Straight from Movie Maker would only cause a repeated loop.

2) Like I said, you'd need to use Windows DVD Maker or something similar to burn the DVD. Of course, you will also need a CD/DVD drive that allows for the burning of DVDs.

3) The restriction for YouTube videos is 100 MB of size, and about 10 minutes in length. You'd probably be cutting it close, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've seen videos much longer than 10 mins.

You should also note, that to do any of this, you will need to publish the movie file directly onto your Computer, so you can use the file for said DVD Maker and for YouTube. To do this, click on the "Finish/Publish Movie" option (or whatever it is for your Windows MM version and choose the "Save for Playback on My Computer" option that comes up. Make sure to publish it to best quality, because compressing it to a certain file size could cause video loss. From there, you can upload it to YouTube and post it into DVD Maker.

If you have an option of what program to use i suggest you use Adobe Premiere, it allows multiple sound streams. im not sure about Movie Maker but try using the Help section for Multiple Audio Streams. So use premiere if you have the option to.

well i know a lot. If you have a cam coder can connect it to the computer using a cable called a fire wire. go to a electricity shop and ask for one.

If you don't have a camcorder you can use your wed cam by clicking capture by video device. just click next. Call it what you want then click next. then next again. then start capture and click finish when you're done.

once you have your clip you have to drag it down using the storyboard or the time line. (I prefer time line). If you click on video effects you can add effects by dragging the effect you want to the clip you want. video transactions are what you put between clips, you need story Bord for this.

It does that when you finish making it and when you click 'publish movie' it will give you a choice of what format to save it as but the default setting is already avi so you really don't have to do anything. Just make sure you make the file size around 20mb because youtube has a limit, and if it exceeds the limit it will not be uploaded.

it depends on how long you record. If you record for 15seconds you only get 15. If that isnt the case you could slow down with video effects, but that will slow everything too.

Windows movie maker is VERY simple, just play around with it on your own and you'll learn it faster. I'd recommend other programs even so.

As for getting the videos, you need to find a place where you can download them in suitable formats (like .avi's for example). You could try torrents or the like, just try and make sure it's a file type that windows movie maker will accept.

You'll need to convert your video into a format supported by Movie Maker. e.g. avi, mpg or wmv.

The original songs from iTunes won't work with Windows Movie Maker, but if you have the songs on a CD now, it's rather simple. Put the CD back into your computer and rip the songs back on to your hard drive. (Use Dell Jukebox or Windows Media Player to make sure you don't rip the songs back into an Apple format.) Make sure that your ripping settings have it so you rip the songs into MP3 format (as that is the easiest format to deal with.) then once the CD is done copying, find the NEWLY imported songs (not the original ones you downloaded from iTunes) and simply drag them into Windows Movie Maker! You most certainly can. I USE it all the time.

double click on the AUDIO button, then search for your mp3's to add to your timeline.

Just make sure when you save it to your computer that your get to the point where you save it to 'OTHER SETINGS' .DV-AVI. then it can be imported into just about anything.
yeah ive fiddled with windows movie maker and you can add music and slide shots and different faders into and out of each shot and they are effective. windows have/make pretty good programs

I don't think there is a way to make a menu/title screen on Windows Movie Maker....you need to use a different system. As for transferring the video to a DVD, you need to go to open Windows Movie maker, go to file, save as movie file, and then burn that file to the DVD. The time restriction on Youtube is 10 minutes.

Is there any way to increase the output quality of Windows Movie Maker?

My source material is Freeview (DVB-T) with a pretty high bit rate. When I re-encode it with Windows Movie Maker, I select Best Quality output. I have also tried manual settings, but it only offers lower bit rates.

To split a video or audio clip in Windows Movie Maker do the following:

1. In the Contents pane, click the video or audio clip you want to split.

2. Under the monitor, move the slider to where you want to split the clip.

3. Click the Split button on the monitor.

The resulting video clips now appear in the Contents pane.

Note: To position the slider precisely, you can drag the slider to a point before the place where you want to split the clip, click the Play button, and then click the Stop button at the exact point where you want the split.

It will need to say something like .wmm at the end.

Download a format converter and convert the video into a format that Windows movie maker will accept.

On the left side of the Windows Music Player, you'll see a button that says

"Import audio/music" or smoething along the like.

Just click it, and then click the song you want.

Of course, you'll have to have the song downloaded on your PC first, but for that, there's always LimeWire, at http://www.limewire.com

well I do this all the time you have to on the side pannel in windows movie maker it says make into dvd and it will open windows dvd maker or the program you have set there and then insert a dvd+r disc if you have a newer computer or DVD-r disc if you have an older computer.And this should work.Hope this helps.

Okay here is what you do for Windows movie maker.

Open up your video so you are able to edit it.

Then click

-file

-save movie file...

-(make sure "My Computer" is highlighted) click on "Next"

-Name your video and pick a place to save it

-Hit "Next"

-make sure there is a green dot on the left hand side of the "best quality". if there is not, click on the circle and it should go green

-hit "next"

At this point it will save and you will be able to upload it. I had the same problem you are having. i am going to guess you just clicked "save as"?

probably because you are trying to import the audacity project file. you need to export the file as wav (found under the file menu) in WMM you should be able to put the wav file in the music slot and have your speech in a different slot for sound effects or something like that. i dont use WMM that much so i don't know for sure.

all i did was burn the song (well, songs that i would want to use in the future as well as to not waste a cd) onto a blank cd. then you have to put the cd into your computer, and then transfer the song from the cd into your media music library or whatever it is called. then you can find it by looking in the music folder from windows movie maker. i know it seems like a pointless and long process, but its how it is (it changes the format of the music file).

There's no setting in WMM where you can just reverse a clip. But what you can do is cut the clip at every frame and then put the single frames in the timeline in backwards order. It'll take a long time but it'll probably be worth it if it's a pretty short video.

OKay i had the same problem but i found a way to convert it to wmv.

1. Open ur movie maker movie

2. Go to files and click SAVE MOVIE FILE

3. You have an option of six things on there click on the first one that says "My computer"

4. Make sure the bubble with the "Best quality for playback on computer" is selected.

5. Press next once more and wait for it to finish downloading
