After converting YouTube videos to Avi files they still won't work in Windows Movie Maker, why?

I used http://vixy.net/ to convert a YouTube video to an Avi file so I could use it in Windows Movie Maker yet when I try to import the video, it won't work (all the while, Windows Movie Maker specifically says it works with Avi files) I've tried everything but I simply can't figure this out, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I would appreciate any help very, very much :)

You need to download the specific codec, which can be found somewhere in the Microsoft Office Page or something like that (Took me a long time to find it...)

The Windows option that Vixy.net provides only works with a DIVX Player, which can be downloaded for free.

An easier way to play those .AVI files is to convert it to .WMV

This is a good, simple and easy program that will convert your videos to make them play on Windows Media Player.

Good luck!

I encountered that problem too...so I download Divx to let the media player play the .avi files..try it
