Can i create slide shows with music using Windows Movie Maker?

i want to make a slide show and have music play in the background. if windows movie maker isn't a good choice, any recommendations on software out there (that i don't have to buy either)?

You most certainly can. I USE it all the time.

double click on the AUDIO button, then search for your mp3's to add to your timeline.

Just make sure when you save it to your computer that your get to the point where you save it to 'OTHER SETINGS' .DV-AVI. then it can be imported into just about anything.
yeah ive fiddled with windows movie maker and you can add music and slide shots and different faders into and out of each shot and they are effective. windows have/make pretty good programs
yes you can and it will show in its own bar at the bottom where you can shorten the music or what ever want with it
u c the time line at the bottom, import what u want from task bar, put in the picture and music and then u can doble chick or right click for efects
